What economic structures might help shift to sustainable living?

Posted on Mar 29th, 2008 by Jubu : Padawan Learner Jubu
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 29, 2008:

An economic structure that encourages investment for social, rather than personal benefit. One in which job creation and job stability is paramount, because without jobs, people cannot sustain themselves, let alone the rest of the world.

Spiritually-minded people must not just think globally, but locally as well. If there are blue collar or white collar workers unemployed at home, take care of them before you worry about peoples of miles away from you. That is not to say that you forget about them, but once you have taken care of the millworker, the auto worker, the steel worker, the white collar professional, etc., and you have had a chance to share with them your spiritual values, they will be more inclined to work with you or to offer ways you can build sustainability.

The problem with shifting to sustainable living involves the developmental level of consciousness most people, especially Americans are at in the present moment. The US is mostly a Blue/Orange society, with a touch of Red, as the majority of American believe in a Divine Order that guides material success, as long as you follow the rules, which sometimes acts at a Red level (witness Iraq) through Blue discipline (bringing democracy, rule of law, etc., except when it applies to our greed).

Those of us who are Green going into Yellow and beyond, cannot be all misty-eyed and wimpish when confronted with this reality. You must understand where they are coming from, so that you can move them away from Blue moralistic authority and Orange greed, the most negative aspects of these levels. Also, Green must not be arrogant and elitist. You cannot look down your nose at those who do not shop at Whole Foods, drink Starbucks coffee, wear natural clothes, eat meat, etc. Accept people as they are. Change their minds, not them.

Back to normal

Posted on Nov 27th, 2007 by Jubu : Padawan Learner Jubu
To those of you who haven't heard from my for a while, my computer crashed back in August, and by the time I got the hard drive back from my nephew, who still needs to help me setup the old computer, we got a new computer (used) from my uncle, who recently purchased a new on and a new monitor. So we got his old computer and flat screen monitor, I am still on my job search. Thought I had something for this week in Philly, but the company chickened out and decided to look locally. Cheap bastards! That's all for now. Jubu

What is your recipe for world peace?

Posted on Aug 15th, 2007 by Jubu : Padawan Learner Jubu
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 15, 2007:

One part Engaged Buddhism (Thich Nhat Hanh brand, but others would do)
One part Jewish Social Justice (concern for the poor - tzedakah plus)
One part True Christian love (not that phony Right-wing kind)
Heavy dose of Sprial Dynamics/Integral Politics/Spirituality/Business
Good dose of common sense and realism
and for good measure, a silent, but confident strength of force to protect those who cannot defend themselves.

What, currently, is your greatest challenge?

Posted on Aug 14th, 2007 by Jubu : Padawan Learner Jubu
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 14, 2007:

My greatest challenge is to find a job so that I can move one with my life and do the things I want to do and need to do to make an impact in the world. Mc Donalds, Burger King and Wal-Mart type jobs are not going to cut it, no matter what "lessons" they may impart. If a person has a brian and intelligence, then working at something that is going to challenge you every day is better than a job that pays minimum wage.

If you could teach this community something, what would it be?

Posted on Aug 1st, 2007 by Jubu : Padawan Learner Jubu
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 01, 2007:

History from an Integral/SD perspective, especially American History, so that people would know that this country had both a secular and religious component to its' makeup, which was the basis for many of the reform movements of the 19th and early 20th centuries. I would teach the rest of History from the Integral approach, combining social, economic, political history with cultural history (worldviews) and intentions and biological/neurological factors.

Addendum

Engaged in an on-going, personal study of Buddhism, Zen Buddhism, Engaged Buddhism, Memetics, Spiral DynamicsTM, and the writings of Ken Wilber. By studying these subjects, I have gained insight into the underlying psychological causes of world events, especially in regard to the evolution of consciousness at various levels or stages of human existence. This has lead to an awareness of the direction human evolution and human existence might take in the future.
